In November 2008, AB Car Rental proudly presented the Solar Car on the sunny eco-island Bonaire. It was the Caribbean’s first car powered by solely sunshine and electricity.

After numerous trials, it turned out that the Solar Car did not yet fully meet AB Car Rental’s expectations: one of the issues being the fact that the Solar Car struggles to get up steep hills such as the Seru Largu. However, the Solar Car is perfect for a magnificent trip around the Southern side of Bonaire.

AB Car Rental customers may still try the Solar Car free of charge: after making an appointment, you may exchange your AB Car Rental vehicle for an environment-friendly test drive in the Solar Car for a full morning or afternoon.

After your test drive you will be kindly requested to share your Solar Car experience with us in writing, so that we can place it on the testimonials on our website.

Meanwhile, the next step has already been taken: in search of the latest developments in the field of eco-cars, AB Car Rental came across the latest generation of Electric Cars. The Electric Cars are equipped with the latest technology and are therefore very suitable for rental purposes.

The Electric Cars have recently arrived on Bonaire and are currently being prepared for rental purposes. The Electric Cars should be ready for rental in August this year. An exciting event!

The Electric Car seats 2 people and your diving equipment. The Electric Car enables you to drive about 100 kilometres before having to recharge the batteries, which makes it perfectly suitable for a clean, quiet and inexpensive trip around Bonaire.
