What do I need to rent a car on Bonaire?

A valid driver's license and credit card.

Do I need to have a credit card in order to rent a vehicle from AB?

Yes, either a Visa or MasterCard is required.

Is there a minimum age for renting a car?

The minimum age for renting a car is 23 years.

How long do I have to be in possession of a driver's license in order to rent a car?

The renter and any additional drivers must have been in possession of their license for at least one year.

Do you have a free pick up service?

Absolutely. You will be picked up by one of our taxi drivers from the airport or any other location on Bonaire. 

If your flight arrives after closing time of the AB Car Rental office, our taxi driver will bring you to your accommodation. The next day you will be picked up at your convenience and driven to the office. This pick up and drop off service is free of charge.

How will I recognize the taxi driver?

If you’ve booked your rental car prior to your arrival on Bonaire, a taxi driver holding a sign (with your name on it) will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall of the airport. The taxi driver will offer assistance with your luggage and drive you to the nearby AB Car Rental office free of charge.

How and where can I return the car?

When returning your rental car at the AB Car Rental office after your vacation, we will drive you back to the airport free of charge.

Is your office located at the airport?

Our office is a two-minute drive from the airport. All AB Car Rental customers benefit from our free taxi and luggage service between the airport and the nearby AB Car Rental office.

What are the office hours?

Our opening times are: Monday to Friday from 07:00 AM to 7:00 PM (19:00), Saturday and Sunday from 06:00 to 8:00 PM (20:00).

Where is your office located?

Our office is located on Kaya Industria 31, between Van Den Tweel Supermarkt and Warehouse Bonaire.

What should I do in case of a breakdown, damage, accident, or a defect on the car?

In this case you should get in touch with immediately by calling +599 777 8980. In case of damage and/or theft, you should also immediately contact BSF (Bonaire Security Force) by calling + 599 717 9292.

May I rent the car without insurance?

It is not possible to rent a car without insurance. Purchasing CDW is a minimum requirement.

How much is my deductible?

With CDW, the deductible is US$ 550,-. If you opt for the AB Full Coverage Plan, the deductible amounts to US$ 0,-..

How can I pay the deposit?

In case of CDW, the deposit may be paid with a credit card. Alternatively, you may purchase the AB Full Coverage Plan with a US$ 0,- deductible.

Can I pay cash or by debit card?

Online reservations can only be made with a valid credit card. At the reception desk you may also use your credit card. Paying with your debit card is only possible if you have opted for the Full Coverage Plan. It is not possible to make payments by cash. 

Are there any additional costs for additional drivers?

If you opt for the AB Full Coverage Plan, additional drivers can be added at no extra charge. If you opt for CDW, the fee is US$ 5,- per driver per day.

Are there any additional costs for a child seat?

If you opt for the AB Full Coverage Plan, there is no extra charge for a child seat. If you opt for CDW, the fee is US$ 5,- per childseat per day.

Is there a fee to cancel?

In case of cancelation at least 2 weeks before the rental period starts, a refund of 50% of the pre-paid charges will be made. In the event of cancellation less than 2 weeks before the rental period starts, or if you do not pick up your rental car, the deposit will not be refunded.

If my plane is delayed, will AB Car Rental's taxi driver wait?

Our taxi driver will wait for your flight arrival, regardless of the time or duration of the delay. If your flight arrives after closing time of the AB Car Rental office, our taxi driver will bring you to your accommodation. The next day you will be picked up at your convenience and driven to the office. This pick up and drop off service is free of charge.

What if I don't have my flight details yet when booking the rental car?

You can always provide us with your flight details at a later stage by sending an e-mail to Info@ABcarrental.com

How long is one rental day?

One rental day is equals 24 hours. This 24 hour term begins when the rental period starts.

How can I make a complaint?

You may submit your complaint in writing to Info@ABcarrental.com. Please be sure to refer to your reservation number. We will get in touch with you as soon as possible.
